Modi from Japan urges India-China cooperation, unveils plan to counter Trump’s tariff bomb threat effectively

India China Relations: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Japan on a two-day visit. PM Modi's visit has been scheduled before the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. Before attending the summit, he gave his address in Tokyo and also interacted with the media. During this, he emphasized on the trade relationship between India and China. He said that being two major economies, it is important for India and China to work together to bring stability in the world order.

Amid the US tariff dispute, PM Modi indicated the purpose of his China visit. He said this in the context of the 'current instability in the world economy'. Modi made this statement in an interview to the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun. 

Importance Of India-China Relations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that given the current situation in the world economy, it is very important for India and China to work together as two major economies. He talked about the importance of improving relations between the two countries for the regional and global prosperity of India and China.

PM Modi said that the relations between the two countries are improving. He told that he met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Kazan, Russia last year. During this, both the countries gave their views on improving and stabilizing bilateral relations. 

Ready to move forward with mutual relation

Describing China as India's neighbour, he said that stable and cordial bilateral relations between the two neighbours as the two largest nations of the world are essential for global peace and prosperity. He further said that such a relationship is also important for multipolar Asia and multipolar world. The Prime Minister said that India is ready to take forward bilateral relations with China on the basis of 'mutual respect, mutual interest and mutual sensitivity'.

Modi’s Key Meetings In China

After the Japan visit, PM Modi will go to China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China. During this visit, PM Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Apart from this, a bilateral meeting has also been scheduled with Russian President Vladimir Putin. America has imposed an additional 25 percent tariff on India for buying crude oil from Russia. However, at such a time both the countries have supported India.
